Unraveling Grief w/Roots

A gentle white horse standing in a sunlit pasture

For most of us, grief lives in our chest. A deep emotion of loss swarms in our heart and our gut. Grief flows through our bodies, desperately searching for an escape route. Some of us have lived with it so long that we hold on to it for comfort, determined NOT to let go. What if we forget the sound of their voice, their smell, their face?

Unprocessed grief lives in us and grows stronger and stronger, making it harder and harder to release (Gerra et al., 2003, pp. 145-158). Sooner or later, our immune systems weaken and our focus blurs (Brain immunity may undergo a major midlife overhaul, 2026). Before we know it, we are walking around with the weight of caged grief much like a horse (loss) in a locked stall (heart), trapped in a burning barn (the body).

Rustic’s wellness program is here for you. Horses are gentle, extremely intuitive, and mystic creatures. They invite us to be completely present. Join us for a guided interaction with our horses, mindful breathing, and gentle yoga practices in nature to quiet your mind, process emotions like unresolved grief, and truly reconnect with yourself.

Reach out to Michele Gaddis or via phone at 937-471-2515 (Owner and founder of Rustic Roots Yoga & Wellness) to book a private equine-assisted mindfulness session at our current South Charleston, Ohio farm, or our soon-to-be-available new Springfield (Fox Hallow Rd), Ohio farm location.

Please note: I am not a licensed therapist. My expertise is rooted in lived experience with grief, complex PTSD, and nontraditional healing practices. This program is designed to provide support and growth in a holistic, non-clinical setting.
